Networking With Other Networks

NCN, SMC, EP, and CCDA are organizations with kindred spirits sharing a similar vision for the church or communities of Jesus Christ.  Some communities or individuals are engaged in several or all of them.

Nurturing Communities Network

Is a loose network of Christ-centered communities and supporters seeking to encourage the formation of newer communities and the nurturing of existing ones.  “Participants” commit to being in relationship through visits, phone calls or attending NCN gatherings as they are able.

Shalom Mission Communities

Is a more formal association of four Anabaptist-inspired intentional communities with shared convictions and practices, mutual aid between communities, a commitment to regular visits and reunions with each other, and specified dues that have helped support some common missional efforts.

The Ekklesia Project

Is a network of academics and practitioners who see the church as the primary place that Jesus's social, political, economic, and spiritual vision is enacted. This network strives to bring questions of theology and practice into conversation with each other in fruitful ways that support local church communities. A gathering is held each summer, with typical attendance around 100 people.

CCDA, the Christian Community Development Association

Is a network of Christians committed to seeing people and communities experience God’s shalom. With around 2,000 members, it includes churches, ministries, intentional communities, and individuals. CCDA holds a national conference each autumn in a major US city: 3-4 days of plenary sessions, workshops, networking sessions, pastoral support, and Go & See tours of local ministries. CCDA also offers various training services, local networking and member forums.

New in 2024, an affinity network on intentional community is facilitated by several NCN community members.

The Anabaptist Community Development Network

Is a project of Everence Financial and Mennonite Central Committee US. Facilitated by Stella Tai, ACDN offers pass-through membership in CCDA and discounted conference attendance, as well as an annual networking dinner prior to the CCDA Conference and quarterly resourcing video meetings. Contact ACDN@everence.com for more information.

Parish Collective (west coast USA)

Is a Christ-following ecumenical network bringing people together across intersections and distance. Our main point of unity lies in learning to be the church in each of our unique neighborhoods.
